Our Story

Our founder, Jean-Luc Kamin, was born and raised in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, where soccer became his refuge, his community, and his first classroom. When he came to the United States for college, soccer once again changed the trajectory of his life. As a walk-on NAIA student-athlete, he earned a scholarship, completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees in five years, and found a family far from home. The discipline, resilience, and leadership he developed through The Beautiful Game ultimately carried him into a successful 22-year banking career.

Since 2012, Jean-Luc has dedicated himself to giving those same opportunities to the next generation. As a USSF C-licensed coach, he's worked with youth across the Kansas City Metro area and the Twin Cities, while volunteering his time and donating equipment to help remove the barriers that keep young people from experiencing the benefits of playing soccer. Along the way, he saw firsthand that kids need more than access to a field—they need mentorship, belonging, confidence, and the tools to navigate life.

That vision led him to create The Plesseu Foundation, where we use soccer as a catalyst for youth leadership, personal growth, and community development. Through our P.A.N.A.C.E.A. methodology, the field becomes a classroom where young people develop not only as athletes, but as confident teammates, resilient individuals, and future community leaders.

Our mission is to remove barriers, create opportunity, and help the youth in our communities discover their potential—on and off the pitch.
Building this requires an ecosystem. Whether you are a parent, coach, mentor, or partner, join us and help provide our kids the platform to lead

Because for us, Soccer is Life.

Our Philosophy

Soccer is Life

More than a game, soccer teaches us all the necessary life lessons that take us through every emotion and create lasting connections.

With this as our philosophy, we create a fun and belonging environment while fostering resilience and growth in young athletes within our community.
This leads to programming that is a direct blueprint for sporting, academic, and life success.

Our Approach

The P.A.N.A.C.E.A Methodology

At the Plesseu Foundation, soccer is our classroom for life. Our proprietary P.A.N.A.C.E.A. methodology translates on-pitch training into seven foundational character pillars, equipping young athletes to excel within the game and lead within their communities.

  • P — Playfulness We create an environment where curiosity and expression flourish, teaching kids to solve problems creatively without the fear of failure.

  • A — Accountability Athletes learn to own their actions, value preparation, and honor their commitments to both their teammates and themselves.

  • N — Navigation Under Pressure We train players to cultivate composure and spatial awareness in chaotic situations to translate tactical split-second decisions on the ball into thoughtful choices when facing peer or life pressures.

  • A — Adaptability Athletes build mental elasticity to pivot when circumstances shift and learn to view deficits and setbacks as opportunities to refocus and execute.

  • C — Collaboration We foster inclusive leadership, open communication, and the instinct to elevate the person next to you to build collective strength.

  • E — Effort We instill the mindset that while talent varies, personal work ethic and preparation are always within one's control.

  • A — Advocacy We empower athletes to direct personal growth outward and use their voice to confidently mentor others, remove barriers, and lead positive change within their neighborhoods.
